Creating a 3D rotating logo in Adobe After Effects can add a professional touch to your videos and branding. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process from start to finish, ensuring you achieve a smooth and dynamic 3D rotation.
Step 1: Prepare Your Logo
Begin by importing your logo into After Effects. Ensure your logo is in a vector format such as AI or SVG for the best quality. If your logo has multiple layers, import it as a composition to retain all elements.
Step 2: Convert Your Logo to 3D
Select your logo layer in the timeline. Click the 3D Layer switch (the cube icon) to enable 3D properties. This allows you to manipulate the logo in three-dimensional space.
Step 3: Add a Camera
Go to Layer > New > Camera. Choose a camera preset or customize settings like focal length. The camera will enable you to create a rotating view around your logo.
Step 4: Animate the Rotation
With your logo layer selected, press R to bring up the Rotation properties. Set keyframes at the start and end of your timeline to animate the Y-axis rotation. For example:
- Start at 0° rotation
- End at 360° rotation for a full spin
Adjust the keyframes to control the speed of rotation. A longer duration results in a slower spin.
Step 5: Fine-Tune the Animation
To make the rotation smoother, select your keyframes, right-click, and choose Keyframe Assistant > Easy Ease. You can also add motion blur by enabling the motion blur switch on your layer and the composition settings.
Step 6: Export Your Rotating Logo
Once satisfied, go to Composition > Add to Render Queue. Choose your preferred output settings and click Render. Your animated 3D rotating logo is now ready to be used in your projects.
